As we mark Disability History Month (November 14 – December 20), it’s important to reflect on the progress made in supporting individuals with disabilities, as well as the challenges that remain. This month, we honor the resilience, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities throughout history. At Tidy Green Clean, we are proud to play our part in advancing inclusion and equality by being a Disability Confident Committed Employer.
Disability History Month in the UK is an annual celebration aimed at raising awareness of the struggles faced by disabled people and promoting equality. This year’s theme focuses on “Disability, Health, and Wellbeing.” The movement highlights the ongoing need to challenge discrimination, break down barriers, and provide equal opportunities for all. Over 13 million people in the UK are living with a disability, yet many continue to face social, economic, and workplace exclusion.
At Tidy Green Clean, we understand that creating an inclusive and supportive environment is not just the right thing to do—it’s essential for fostering a diverse and thriving workplace. That’s why we are proud to be a Disability Confident Committed Employer, a government-backed scheme that encourages businesses to actively recruit, retain, and support disabled employees.
As part of this initiative, we are committed to:
Being a Disability Confident employer isn’t just about ticking a box—it’s about actively fostering a culture of inclusion where everyone feels valued. By championing diversity and providing opportunities for disabled people, we aim to break down the stereotypes and misconceptions that still exist around disability in the workplace. We also believe that diverse teams bring fresh perspectives, creativity, and innovation to our business, strengthening the company as a whole.
As we observe Disability History Month, we are reminded of how far we’ve come and how much further we need to go in promoting equality for disabled people in all aspects of life. At Tidy Green Clean, we will continue to uphold our commitment to inclusion and look forward to working with people of all abilities to create a workplace that is welcoming and supportive.
By embracing the principles of the Disability Confident scheme, we are not just providing jobs—we are creating opportunities and breaking down barriers for people with disabilities to build fulfilling careers. Together, we can ensure that everyone has the chance to contribute and thrive in the workplace.
Happy Disability History Month! Let’s continue to learn, reflect, and take action toward building a more inclusive world.
