Celebrating One Year as a Disability Confident Employer 

This month marks a very special milestone for – it’s been one year since we were officially recognised as a Disability Confident Employer. 

The Disability Confident scheme, run by the UK Government, supports employers in making the most of the talents that disabled people can bring to the workplace. Being part of this initiative is about more than just a badge; it’s about building a culture where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. 

Why it matters to us 

At TGC, we’ve always believed that businesses are stronger when they are inclusive, diverse, and supportive. Becoming a Disability Confident Employer was a natural step for us because: 

• We want to create fair opportunities for everyone. 

• We believe in removing barriers so that people can showcase their skills and talents. 

• We are committed to making adjustments where needed, so that every member of our team feels valued and supported. 

What we’ve achieved in the past year 

Over the last 12 months, we’ve taken practical steps to put our commitment into action: 

• Recruitment practices – ensuring job descriptions and application processes are inclusive and accessible. 

• Workplace adjustments – adapting roles and equipment where necessary to support colleagues. 

• Ongoing awareness – providing training and conversations to build understanding around disability and inclusion. 

Most importantly, we’ve seen how this approach strengthens our teams. By recognising and celebrating different abilities, we’ve created a workplace where people can bring their whole selves to work  and that benefits our colleagues, our clients, and our communities. 

Looking ahead 

This is only the beginning. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but our journey to being an even more inclusive organisation continues. Over the next year, we’ll be building on this foundation, exploring more ways we can support and champion disabled people across our business and beyond.
