We’re pleased to welcome Sam Stanton to the Tidy Green Clean team as our new Business Development Manager. Bringing experience in building strong client relationships and developing new business opportunities, Sam joins the team with a people-focused approach and a wealth of experience to bring to the role.
We caught up with Sam to find out more about his career journey, what attracted him to Tidy Green Clean, his thoughts on the commercial cleaning industry, and what he’s looking forward to as he settles into his new role.
I spent 22 years working at Langstane Press Ltd, across the office supplies, print and promotional products, and furniture sectors, including 17 years as an external Account Manager. That experience meant I was working within similar professional circles to Tidy Green Clean and gave me a strong understanding of building and maintaining long-term business relationships.
Alongside that, I’ve had a long-standing relationship with Andrew Alleway spanning around 10 years, which has given me the opportunity to see Tidy Green Clean go from strength to strength.
Having known the business for many years and already having an understanding of its people and culture, joining the TGC team felt like a natural next step.
Having TGC as a client of mine for many years, I had the opportunity to visit HQ regularly, and the energy in the building was always superb.
The collaboration between colleagues seemed effortless, and there was a clear sense of everyone working together as a united team. That really stood out to me.
Honesty, first and foremost.
A strong work ethic and integrity put you in a great position, but I think humility and accountability are equally important when it comes to building relationships that last.
Never underestimate the value of helping a customer, whether that’s within your own business or outside it.
Some of my longest-standing customer relationships have come from an SOS situation where I was able to step in, lend a hand and help find a solution.
Sometimes it’s those moments when you go the extra mile that make the biggest difference.
Choose a trustworthy company to look after your requirements and, as much as possible, allow them to advise you on the services and frequency you actually need.
A good cleaning provider should understand your requirements and be able to recommend the right approach, rather than simply delivering a set service.
That can help keep costs to a minimum while maintaining high standards.
Having seen the business projections and growth goals for the next five years, my objective for the first year is clear: to bring a strong volume of new business into the company and help support those wider growth ambitions.
I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and seeing what we can achieve.
My wife and young family, our two girls, aged 13 and 8, keep me pretty busy, along with our two cats and 40kg Bulldog!
I also try to get a couple of sessions a week on the heavy bag at the gym when I can.
During Covid, I got really into making trolls and various fantasy creatures out of clay.
I actually sold a few, too!
Fortunately, Covid did come to an end, so we’ll never know whether that could have been my calling in life…
