At Tidy Green Clean, we’re proud of the people who make our business what it is, a friendly, supportive, and passionate team dedicated to doing things the right way. This month, we’re catching up with Sacha King, our Business Support Manager, to learn more about her journey, her role, and life outside of work.
I’m a single mum to two girls, aged 11 and 8, and we live in Chapelton with our golden retriever, Dixie, and our cat, Willow. I’m a huge animal lover; Dixie even joins me at work sometimes to say hello to the team and play with the other office dogs!
My career started in the oil and gas industry in Norfolk, before I moved to Aberdeen when I was expecting my eldest daughter. My children’s father and I opened a butcher shop, which kept us busy during lockdown with deliveries. Unfortunately, the business didn’t last, but it taught me a lot about resilience and community.
Over three years ago, once my girls were both in school, I decided it was time to return to work. After a number of interviews with different companies, Andrew and David gave me an opportunity at Tidy Green Clean and I haven’t looked back since. It’s a very family-oriented company, and that flexibility makes a real difference as a parent.
I’ve been with Tidy Green Clean for just over three years. I started out managing the Bin Cleaned side of the business while also supporting the wider TGC team with administrative tasks.
Since the Bin Cleaned service was sold, I’ve taken on new responsibilities, working closely with Lisa on the accounts side of the business, something I hadn’t considered before but now really enjoy. I’ve learned so much and feel like I’ve truly grown into my role. It’s rewarding to feel valued and to see my hard work recognised. My next goal is to move into a full-time position once my girls are a bit older.
No two days are ever the same, and that’s what keeps things exciting!
My main responsibilities include managing our online business engine, making customer care calls, invoicing, and reconciling accounts. I also help with general office support, ordering supplies, answering calls, assisting the team with queries, and sometimes even walking the office dogs! (I’ve been nicknamed the Dog Whisperer more than once.)
The start of each month is always the busiest time, as that’s when we’re focused on client invoicing and payments, but I love the buzz of it all.
My kids are my world, spending time with them is what truly keeps me grounded and happy. Whether we’re laughing at the park, heading to soft play, or just enjoying a cosy duvet day at home, they remind me what’s most important.
I also love the beach, especially Stonehaven, where I like to collect sea glass while Dixie swims. It’s my favourite way to relax and reset.
At work, definitely coffee! We’ve got a great machine in the office, and we’ve even learned how to make our favourite Starbucks drinks. My go-to is an oat milk caramel macchiato.
At home, though, it’s tea for me, in the morning, and after work to unwind.
