At Tidy Green Clean, we believe that positive change begins with people and that extends far beyond our own communities. That’s why we’re proud to continue our support of Strathallan School’s StrathKenya Projects, helping to fund initiatives that transform lives through education, empowerment, and sustainable development across Kenya.
For over 17 years, the StrathKenya Projects have worked across three key regions; Kibera in Nairobi, Suswa in the Great African Rift Valley, and Kilifi on Kenya’s eastern coast, to create lasting opportunities for children and young people.
Through education, skill-building, and community-led initiatives, the projects continue to change the trajectory of hundreds of lives each year.
In Kibera, the project supports children’s education by covering school fees, uniforms, books, and daily meals, giving them the stability and opportunity to learn in safety.
At the Kenya Children’s Home Orphanage, StrathKenya provides both educational and infrastructural support, from classroom funding and nurseries to rainwater harvesting systems and play parks. These initiatives not only improve wellbeing but also create vital pathways to independence.
In Suswa, StrathKenya partners with the Soila Maasai Girls Rescue School to protect and educate girls at risk of early marriage. Alongside providing essential items such as uniforms, bedding, and school supplies, the project also facilitates teacher development and collaboration in key subjects like STEM, helping to build confidence and leadership among young women.
Further east, in Kilifi, the projects focus on education access for children with physical disabilities and health initiatives that benefit the wider community.
StrathKenya also leads large-scale outreach programmes to support girls’ education and tackle period poverty through the production of reusable sanitary products, an initiative that has grown into a successful micro-business employing local women and reducing environmental waste.
Additional sustainability projects include rainwater harvesting systems, a “rent-a-goat” micro-enterprise supporting women’s income and training, and a new Bee-Keeping for Sustainability project, which empowers local villagers to generate income from honey, candles, and beeswax while promoting biodiversity.
By providing funding for the StrathKenya Projects, Tidy Green Clean is proud to help sustain this vital work. Our support is driven by a shared belief in education, empowerment, and environmental responsibility, values that align perfectly with our approach to business and sustainability.
David Moncur, Operations Director, commented: “We’re honoured to support the StrathKenya Projects. Seeing the difference education and sustainable opportunity can make is incredibly inspiring, it’s a reminder that even small acts of support can create lasting change.”
David Barnes from Strathallan School added, “We have been overwhelmed by the donations from the StrathKenya Community. Every donation is targeted towards micro planning, empowering impoverished children and young people, providing education, employment and positive community opportunities. Sustainably and environmental stewardship is a key focus.”
The StrathKenya Projects are a powerful example of what can happen when compassion meets action. By investing in education, sustainability, and community empowerment, they’re helping young people in Kenya to build a brighter, more sustainable future and TGC is proud to play a part in that journey.
