Callum Cruickshank is my partner, which is how I got involved, when he first bought the franchise in 2020. I work part time for his two Tidy Green Clean franchises, Aberdeen West and Edinburgh (partnered with Grant Peterkin, owner of Aberdeen South too). My main job is as a dog walker, and I fit in my TGC role in Accounts Payable around that. It’s very flexible. I’m from Peterculter, born and bred. I work from home and it’s great; I do three afternoons a week and it really suits me.
We’ve all learned how important cleaning is, after Covid, and it’s amazing how many businesses do rely on TGC and wouldn’t be able to operate with them. Good cleaning is a necessity; even when business is tough, people still need their offices properly cleaned. It’s a great business to work for and it’s very flexible, I couldn’t do it otherwise. Callum’s a good boss too. I’m not in the office much but when I do need anything, everyone’s really accessible and they are like a wee family really.
I’ve worked for TGC Aberdeen West from almost the beginning, from about four months in – since June 2020. The business just grew and grew and so the team grew too. At first I did quite a lot of the administrative function; now I can focus on one thing and that’s what I really like, the accounts payable.
I’ve always been careful and aware of our environment. Callum’s always been concerned about the environment, recycling and businesses playing their part. Certainly, working here has made me far more aware. I love the fact its all environmentally friendly cleaning solutions and no harsh chemicals being used down the toilets. I think the way TGC operates is the way forward and more companies should be doing it for the future really.
I enjoy having my own business as well and I enjoy being part of TGC, working with other colleagues. I see the business is going to continue to grow, both here in Aberdeen West and in Edinburgh; both growing and being very successful and heading in the right direction.
